January Monthly Chat

  • Waynesboro Historical Society 138 West Main Street Waynesboro, PA, 17268 United States (map)

Monthly Chat Series:

Breakfast In Hollywood

This activity is hosted by the Society and is free and open to the public, with light refreshments. Starting promptly at 10am at the Oller House, which is located in the Borough on lovely West Main Street.

Limited to one hour, while allowing time for greeting old friends and meeting new ones.

Storyteller, historian, and reenactor John Shindledecker will moderate: according to Shindledecker: "I am fascinated with the Tom Brenaman story. A story that people in Waynesboro don't know – one of the biggest radio stars in radio history was from from Waynesboro, Pa.  He had the most popular daytime show of the era (before TV). He was a friend to many, including Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, and Jack Benny. Breneman brought his radio show (on the road) to Waynesboro in 1947 for the centennial.  You will be as fascinate with his story, as I am."

The public is invited for this very informative hour about how, Waynesboro Native Tom Breneman creatively set this in motion, back in the golden days of radio.

Gift ideas on display feature books by local authors, periodicals, coasters, pictures or WHS gift memberships.

Your local Historical Society insures future Waynesboro generations will be able to enjoy the Oller House and have access to material for research.  We always encourage families to make an album or binder of your family history to be included in the WHS library.
